The White Moonlight Stole Away the Little Substitute – Chapter Thirty-Nine

Mu Nanqiao went back to the Garden Community on Saturday night. When driving by Hengjin Secondary School, he noticed a team of workers taking advantage of the weekend to remove the metal school name at the entrance. Some students stopped to watch.

When the light turned green, he drove forward and stopped at the milk tea shop on the corner, intending to bring Lu Qi his favorite milk tea and egg tarts from this shop.

Because it was the weekend, there were not many students. There were two or three girls in line in front of him. Mu Nanqiao raised his hand to take a picture of the new autumn milk tea, sending it to Lu Qi to see if there were any new products he wanted to drink.

While waiting for Lu Qi’s reply, an exclamation sounded from behind him: “Boss! Boss, is that you?”

Mu Nanqiao turned around and saw a young man in casual clothes standing behind him.

He looked a little familiar. Considering the title of “boss,” he raised his eyebrows somewhat knowingly and greeted the boy who had climbed over the wall, asking casually: “Buying milk tea for your girlfriend again?”

The other party’s face fell, and he let out a long sigh. “No, she’s my ex-girlfriend.”

Mu Nanqiao gave an “oh,” and said heartlessly: “I’m buying this for my partner.”

The young man: “……”

When he went back, he really wanted to post a video online: “Guys, do you understand me, ah~”

Mu Nanqiao got revenge for when he was stabbed in the heart last time, and didn’t think there was anything wrong with him getting in a dispute with a minor. He lowered his head and looked at his phone. Lu Qi still hadn’t replied.

He double clicked on Lu Qi’s profile picture.

[I patted “Lu Baby.” Xiao Sanhua and the little pig. So fierce!]

Mu Nanqiao: ……

When did this happen? Why did that pig appear here?!

The boy behind him scratched his head curiously. He looked around and asked in a low voice: “Boss, our school has really changed owners. I heard from my dad that it was taken over by Mu Group. Boss, are you a member of the Mu family? I found out the news so early! Boss, do you know what the new name of our school will be?”

Mu Nanqiao turned around and gave him a lazy look.

Clearly this glance meant nothing, very ordinary, but when the long, dark eyes swept over him, the boy couldn’t help but shiver and silently close his mouth.

At this time, Mu Nanqiao’s phone vibrated. Lu Qi replied: [Chestnut mochi milk tea? I’ve never tried it before, but I want to!]

Mu Nanqiao: [OK]

When it was his turn, he not only bought the new product, but also the fruit tea Lu Qi usually ordered for takeout, just in case the new product wasn’t any good.

After getting the milk tea, he looked back at the boy who was shrinking his head and said one word: “Mingqi.”

The boy was stunned for a moment, then asked uncontrollably: “Mingqi, as in bright? Or Mingqi as in strange? Boss, is it the bright one or the strange one?”

It was the “bright” Ming, and the “prayer” Qi.

But he didn’t want to let the child know, so he only said: “You will see in two days.”

“Also, let me give you a piece of advice.” Mu Nanqiao opened the car door, placed the drinks in properly, and then turned back to the eager boy and said: “Next time you have a girlfriend, don’t be so secretive. Talk more and say more useful things.”

Having received this critical hit, the boy ran away in a hurry.

Once he got in the car and fastened his seatbelt, Mu Nanqiao found his assistant’s WeChat and double clicked his profile picture.

[I patted “Assistant’s” wallet. It emits an empty echo]

Mu Nanqiao: ……

Assistant: ……

[Mr. Mu, do you have any tasks you wish for me to complete?]

Mu Nanqiao: [Find a moving company and come to Garden Community 501 tomorrow afternoon.]

Assistant: [Okay, received]

Mu Nanqiao thought for a moment, then typed and sent: [Find a more reliable company, and you’ll get a bonus when it’s done]

The assistant calmly showed his professionalism: [Okay. Thank you, Mr. Mu]

After sending it, he quickly changed the setting of the photo to: xx Patting my epitaph, I lay down my life for my boss]

. . . . . . .

The new product was indeed a disappointment. Lu Qi took two sips with a frown and found that it was too sweet, so he pushed the rest in front of Mu Nanqiao.

Xiao Sanhua hadn’t seen this canine for a long time, and unexpectedly rushed over to act coquettishly. She jumped onto Mu Nanqiao’s long legs and started to knead them. Mu Nanqiao was flattered. He reached out for a hug — and pushed Xiao Sanhua’s dad onto the sofa to kiss him.

Xiao Sanhua was squeezed between them and gave a meow-curse while running away.

Lu Qi was also taken aback. He put his hands on Mu Nanqiao’s shoulders and complained softly with red ears: “You squeezed her…..wu…..”

This small complaint was swallowed up by Mu Nanqiao’s lips. The milk tea that was clearly sweet and cloying just now only left a faint sweetness on his lips. It tasted just right.

“I missed you so much…..” Mu Nanqiao whispered. He released Lu Qi’s lips and placed a small kiss on his ear, then sucked a small red mark at the base of it.

Lu Qi was completely unaware of him leaving a mark. He grabbed the collar of his shirt with his fingers and responded in a low voice: “I missed you too…..”

Thus, there was another long and slightly sweet kiss, and in the end, a familiar heat seemed to sweep over him again. Lu Qi quickly bit Mu Nanqiao and pushed away this big fox whose eyes were dissatisfied, hurrying into the kitchen.

“I made soup for you tonight!”

Mu Nanqiao sighed in resignation and went to the kitchen to help.

That evening, the two of them started to pack up the things in the apartment. Lu Qi had already prepared the packing boxes, and the two of them packed while chatting. Time passed very quickly, and in the end, there was only one set of bedding left on the bed, which would be packed up and taken away the next morning.

“I actually quite like this nest.” Lu Qi lay on the quilt and gave a soft sigh. “The orientation is good, and the location is not bad…..”

Mu Nanqiao was reading documents on his laptop. Hearing what Lu Qi said, he couldn’t help but reach out and rub his hair. “The orientation of where we’re moving is also very good, and so is the location……”

He hesitated for a moment. “Or do you think the apartment will be too big?”

Lu Qi looked at him speechlessly: “Who wouldn’t like a big apartment? If I had money, I would live in a big one.”

Mu Nanqiao: ……

Lu Qi turned over and hugged his waist, rubbing his head against Mu Nanqiao’s. “The main reason is that after getting to know you in this small apartment, I feel a little reluctant to leave…..”

How could he still be in the mood to work? Mu Nanqiao felt like his heart was about to melt.

He turned off the computer and lay down on the quilt, leaving only the dim bedside lamp in the small bedroom.

He was blamed last time for taking too long and making his wrist hurt from exhaustion, and now Lu Qi refused to share a quilt with him. He stretched out his hands to roll up the quilt and hugged the soft ball, his heart full.

“When you put it like this, it does seem sad.” He smiled. “But every place you and I go is meaningful. In this case, we might have to buy Moscow back first…..”

He gave a melancholy sigh. “It seems that I’m not rich enough.”

“You are indeed not rich enough.” Lu Qi said primly: “In the novel my dad read, the boss directly bought a country! If they didn’t agree, the boss would send an army of mercenaries with a wave of his hand and crush them with thousands of troops…..”

When he finished speaking, he couldn’t help but laugh. His eyes were bright and curved, which made Mu Nanqiao feel extremely itchy. He lowered his head and kissed his eyelashes, saying with a smile: “Are you talking about a CEO or the heavenly emperor, ah…..”

Lu Qi laughed out loud and raised his head to kiss him on the chin. “Okay, let’s go to bed. We have to move tomorrow…..”

After working overtime for several days, just holding Lu Qi in his arms made him feel at ease. Mu Nanqiao was also sleepy, so he rubbed Lu Qi on the back and whispered: “I hope there will be nostalgic first times in our new house.”

There was deep meaning behind these words, but it was a pity that Lu Qi didn’t hear it. He yawned and fell asleep nestled in his arms.

. . . . . .

With bonus incentives, Assistant Zhang was incredibly efficient. He first pulled the workers from the moving company to take things away, then followed in the car and observed. Lu Qi only needed to move himself and the two cats into Mu Nanqiao’s car. When passing by Shenmei University, Lu Qi leaned into the car window and looked out. Seeing this, Mu Nanqiao asked him: “Do you want to go back there for a walk?”

“Some other time. Let’s go back and clean up today.” Lu Qi leaned back on the deer neck pillow and pointed to the entrance of an alley, saying: “There is a food court next to the school. There is a wagyu restaurant that is particularly delicious. Let’s go eat together when you are free.”

Mu Nanqiao nodded in agreement.

Prosperous Cloud was located in the city center, a quiet place amidst the bustle, with layers of green plants. There was a small garden behind the three high-rise buildings. On the boundary of this valuable land, there was a small hill. The transplanted camellia trees were in full bloom, as lively as pink and white clouds.

Lu Qi shook Mu Nanqiao’s hand happily. The reluctance and melancholy about the small apartment last night disappeared.

Mu Nanqiao’s house was on the top floor of Building A. It had a double-level structure and good indoor lighting. Pushing the door open, they entered the entrance hall and faced a simple hollow wooden screen. Turning around the screen, the living room alone was the size of two apartment 501s, and the cardboard boxes that were moved were packed into a small pile.

It was difficult for an empty environment to look warm, but Mu Nanqiao had obviously arranged it in advance. There were light-colored wood floors throughout, a few small green plants in exquisite flower pots, and creamy-colored pillows were placed on the sofa. A castle-shaped cat climbing frame stood beside the wall, and the highest point of the throne was made of cat scratching posts. Xiao Sanhua, who had just come out of the cage, didn’t even look at it and swished under the sofa to “clean.”

Lu Qi: “Wow~”

The house was big and beautiful, but what touched his heart even more was Mu Nanqiao’s thoughtfulness. It made him feel that spending day and night with a person was something to look forward to. His definition of “home” was nothing more than this.

A cool woody fragrance came up behind him, and Mu Nanqiao hugged him and shook him. “How is it? It’s barely comparable to the 501 nest, right?”

“En, en, en.” Lu Qi nodded like a chicken pecking at rice. He remembered something and asked: “When did you do it? Haven’t you been very recently during this time?”

“En…..” Mu Nanqiao bent down slightly to rest his chin on Lu Qi’s shoulder, his voice right next to Lu Qi’s ear. “I told you this place is very close to Mu Group. I would come over after lunch to put together the cat climbing frame and add some small decorations…..”

Lu Qi’s ear was numb and itchy, so he raised his hand and rubbed it.

He turned around and looked into Mu Nanqiao’s fox-like eyes, at the red mole at the tip of his eye, and then the straight bridge of his nose…..

Finally, his gaze fell on his thin, light-colored lips.

“Mu Nanqiao,” he whispered, leaning over. “I want to pay the rent.”
